The Truth About Overcoming Fear, Anxiety, And Depression

overcoming fear, anxiety treatment, depression treatmentSo many people throughout the world, especially right now, are having challenges overcoming fear and dealing with anxiety and depression.

Here’s how the “problem” of overcoming fear, anxiety and depression is typically perceived and addressed:

  • Anxiety, fear and depression are negative, bad, and painful – “enemies” that must be attacked and defeated, just like the military attacks and seeks to defeat its enemies
  • If you want to attack and succeed at overcoming fear, anxiety and depression, which means to “feel better,” you must find a way to make them dissolve, or disappear. That’s what “defeat” means
  • The most popular “ways” for attacking and dissolving fear, anxiety and depression, for overcoming fear, anxiety and depression, include psychoanalysis, prescription drugs, herbs, other natural substances, meditation, and various “alternative” healing models

The “Attack And Dissolve” Strategy Doesn’t Work For Overcoming Fear, Anxiety, And Depression …

When the attack and dissolve approach is taken with overcoming fear, anxiety and depression, people sometimes get relief. But permanent relief, completely overcoming fear, anxiety and depression, is rare.

In general, here’s what happens when the attack and dissolve approach is taken with overcoming fear, anxiety, and depression:

  • The symptoms don’t dissolve or disappear — the overcoming fear, anxiety and depression treatments simply fail
  • Anxiety, fear and depression go away … temporarily … but come back, sometimes stronger than before
  • Anxiety, fear and depression appear to go away, but they don’t really, they’re really just hidden from view, masked, or covered over

In virtually all cases, the True Core Cause of the anxiety, fear and depression isn’t discovered or addressed, even if certain superficial causes are isolated, discussed and addressed.

Why Don’t The Traditional Approaches For Overcoming Fear, Anxiety, And Depression Work?

Why is it that people don’t usually get permanent relief from their efforts in overcoming fear, anxiety and depression?

Why is it that even if someone appears to be overcoming fear in some ways, or succeeds at overcoming fear for a while, or appears to be dealing better with anxiety or depression, they still wouldn’t describe themselves as “happy”?

If you want the answers to those questions, and other ones related to overcoming fear, anxiety, and depression, you must be willing to take a brutally honest look at something few people ever look at, or if they look, they don’t SEE.

The Solution To The Riddle Of Overcoming Fear, Anxiety And Depression

The solution to the riddle is there’s a fundamental flaw in the traditional model for overcoming fear; a fundamental flaw in the attack and dissolve approach to overcoming fear; a fundamental flaw in the belief that there are “positive” and “negative” emotions in the first place.

Want to know what the fundamental flaw is in the traditional models for overcoming fear, anxiety and depression? OK, but prepare yourself. What I’m about to say probably won’t make sense when you first hear it. It’s likely your mind will resist and come up with all kinds of objections.

It’s The Truth anyway.

And it’s the absolute key to overcoming fear, and successful treatment of depression and anxiety. It’s also the key to the ultimate banishment of all negative emotions from your life — and to Experiencing True happiness, peace, serenity, bliss, or whatever else you want to call it.

The Only True Path To Overcoming Fear, Anxiety, And Depression…

Emotions are part of The Human Experience. They’ll never go away. It’s like an assembly line, where the parts just keep coming … and coming … and coming.

overcoming fearIf you believe there really are positive emotions (which are good) and negative emotions (which are bad), then, since the emotional assembly line is always running, it will always deliver what appears to be “negative” emotions that need to be attacked and dissolved.

You know this already from personal experience. There’s always another “negative” emotion rearing its ugly head in your life. The only question is when it will appear, how strong and intense it’ll be, and how long it’ll last.

Just like the military will never have enough money, soldiers, weapons and equipment to defeat all its enemies, you’ll never succeed at overcoming fear, anxiety and depression, at defeating all the negative emotions … and … ultimately, experiencing True Happiness.

The real solution is to abandon the attack and dissolve approach to overcoming fear, and open into a direct Experience of The Truth. What does that mean? It means Seeing, really Seeing, Experiencing, really Experiencing,  that there’s no such thing as positive and negative emotions, no such thing as feel good emotions and feel bad emotions, no such thing as fear, anxiety and depression.

There’s just emotion, what’s often referred to as an “inner movement of energy,” — and ALL emotions can be Experienced as “positive.”

All emotions can be Experienced without judgment, names, and “polarity” (good–bad, comfortable–uncomfortable, painful–pleasurable, etc.).

This Is What True Happiness Is …

This is the True Path to overcoming fear, anxiety and depression.

This is not some airy-fairy or woo-woo idea and concept. I’m talking about actual experience. This Truth can actually be experienced 24/7.

Life Purpose And The Purpose Driven Life

Rarely Discussed Truths About Life Purpose

One of my subscribers wrote in and asked me this question:

“How does one go about finding one’s life purpose and create a purpose-driven life?”

I have a lot to share on this topic. Much more than could be contained in this post. I also have a strong bias on all of this, so be prepared for that.

Having said that, here goes …

There’s so much out there in the self-help, personal growth, spiritual growth, and spiritual/spirituality literature about life purpose and “mission.”

However, from what I’ve experienced and seen, most of that talk and focus on mission and purpose leads to confusion, frustration and dead ends.

So, let’s see if we can add some clarity here.

I agree that we all have a mission and purpose that drives what happens in our lives. There is something specific we all “came here” to do and experience.

Our mission and purpose was decided on before we came here, and planned out in advance with a lot of detail.

An “Intelligence” greater than your own chose the mission, purpose and plan, and executes the plan from behind the scenes. I’ve called that Intelligence many things: Director, Inner CEO, Expanded Self and now True Creative Essence.

This Intelligence is driving the bus, from behind the scenes, and has the Power and ability to make sure your life purpose is fulfilled.

Key Point 1: Intelligence always manifests your life purpose and plan with All its detail. It never fails and nothing can derail it.

Now we get to the critical point and the “error” made by so many people who talk about life purpose and the purpose-driven life.

Some people are consciously aware of their purpose in life. Others are not.

Some people think they know what their life purpose is and their vision is accurate.

Some people think they know what their life purpose is and their vision is not accurate.

Even if there’s some awareness, it’s usually just tip of the iceberg.

No matter how much awareness there is of your purpose in life, no matter how accurate the awareness of life purpose may be, here’s The Truth:

Key Point 2: You don’t need to “find” or consciously know about your life purpose in order for it to be fulfilled. Conscious knowledge is irrelevant.

It will be fulfilled regardless. As I said, Intelligence, who has all The Real Power, and is the one Truly driving the bus in your life, will see to it.

Here are additional Truths:

  1. You can’t get off track on your purpose in life
  2. You can’t screw things up and derail Intelligence in fulfilling your life purpose
  3. You WILL do whatever you’re meant to do to fulfill your life purpose — whether you’re consciously aware of your purpose in life or not
  4. Everyone else WILL do what they’re meant to do to support you in fulfilling your life purpose
  5. Everything else that’s meant to happen WILL happen to support you in fulfilling your life purpose
  6. There’s no such thing as a non-purpose-driven-life. It’s not possible. The Human Experience is always driven by purpose — just like a movie, TV show, play, and great novel are driven by a plan and purpose in every moment
  7. Your life purpose doesn’t need to be “spiritual” or “lofty” or humanitarian or charitable. It can be as simple as playing with and exploring something that interests you in what I call “The Human Game Amusement Park.”

OK. That’s a good start. Let me know your thoughts and comments and know there’s more to come on the topic of life purpose and the purpose-driven life.

P.S. If you’re a Phase 2 or Phase 3 Player, you know I’d language all of this quite differently!

How Many Stories Are Messing Up Your Life?

Earlier this month my wife and I took the honeymoon we never took when we got married 16 years ago. We went to an extraordinary resort on the island of Anguilla called Cap Juluca.

The first day there we took a long walk on the beach and got hot and sweaty, so we decided to take a swim.

As I considered diving into the water, a thought appeared saying, “Oooh, it’s going to be really cold” and I found myself delaying the dive into the water.

I had strong memories of the sensation of cold and discomfort when diving into the water from my younger days as a competitive swimmer.

Then I remembered something I discovered on my journey of discovery into The Teachings.

“Cold” is just a story.

If you dive into water and you say it’s “cold,” how do you know it’s “cold”? Ever thought about that?

If you close your eyes and focus on the sensation itself, is there anything in it that says “cold”?

No.

Beyond that, how do you know that “cold” is uncomfortable? Ever thought about that?

If you close your eyes and focus on the sensation itself, is there anything in it that says “discomfort”?

Nope. Nothing at all.

“Cold” and “discomfort” are just stories. Just thought stories that appear in the mind.

It all happens on auto-pilot, lightning-fast, from what I call “The Mind Machine” — and we generally accept such judgments and stories without examining or questioning them.

Recalling and Seeing that Truth, I dove into the water, open to the actual experience of my body connecting with the water, what I call “the pure experience.”

As my body connected with the water, I did notice that a very strong sensation appeared in my awareness. An intense one. I could see why the labels “cold” and “uncomfortable” were attached to it.

But without the commentary from The Mind Machine, without the judgment, without the story that cold is Real and True and bad and uncomfortable, the strong sensation, the intensity, was actually quite pleasurable.

It made me think about how many things we experience, personal and business, where the same dynamic appears.

See, what I’m speaking about isn’t just about water and cold. It’s about virtually everything you experience across the board — inside and outside of yourself.

Hmmm …
